What to Expect During Your Newborn Photography Ordering Appointment

What to Expect: Choosing Your Newborn Photo Collection

You likely have a good idea when you book your newborn photo shoot with SMA Photography which Photo Collection - Timeless, Essential, or Keepsake - is right for your family’s budget and values. My goal as your newborn photographer is to honor that.

For families that choose the Timeless or Essential Newborn Photo Collections, I also offer an optional ordering appointment, where I return to your home to help you place your order for the album and prints that are included in your photo collection.

Once we have a moment to catch up on your and your baby’s life since your newborn photography session, I’ll get out the gorgeous gallery box of photos that’s included with your photo collection. You will love it!

Both the Timeless and Essential Newborn Photo Collections come with print credit, as well as discounts off all a la carte print pricing. This is a great opportunity to choose some larger prints for framing. To choose which of the beautiful photos to print with your print credit, I generally suggest taking these prints out of your gallery box to make three piles of newborn photos.

Definites - Photos you’re absolutely, over the moon, in love with.
Maybes - Those photos you like a lot, but aren’t sure where you might put them.
Not for the walls - Photos you’re glad you have, but wouldn’t hang or put in an album.

From there, it’s a bit easier to sort through the “Definites” (and possibly run through the “Maybes” again!) to choose the newborn photos that are right for your family’s home. Although this is a job for you and your husband to do with your hearts, I’m happy to help point out similarities and differences between the photos and help you choose images and sizes that will look amazing on your walls. It’s one of my favorite services to offer!

If you’ve chosen the Timeless Newborn Photo Collection or would like to upgrade to add on an album, you’ll also have an opportunity during your ordering appointment to look through and choose one of 20 different album covers - in linen or leather - that matches your family’s style for this occasion.

Thirty images are included in your album, so I typically suggest heading back to the three groups of newborn photos you organized earlier in your ordering appointment to help you choose which images you want to feature in your artisan album.

Once you’ve made your choices and added on any last a la carte products you need, I’ll put your order in with my top-rated professional photography print labs. When your prints and album are ready, I’ll wrap your order beautifully and deliver it by hand to your home.

If you initially chose the Keepsake Collection for your baby’s newborn photos, but think you might want to upgrade for the Annual Pass Membership or just add on a few a la carte prints, I’m more than happy to return to your home to help you with an ordering appointment service, too. Just let me know.
