12 Favorite Books for Your Baby Registry

Before I was a newborn photographer in Cary, I was an elementary school teacher. If there was anything I learned in my years in education, it was the importance of reading with our children early - even as early as the newborn days.
Of course babies don’t understand the words or story line, but when you sit down to read with your newborn, you’re fostering connection and allowing your baby to hear the rhythms of language, both of which are vital for their growing brain development.
If you are looking for some smaller items to add to your Target or Amazon Baby Registry or your holiday gift list this year, here’s my list of our family’s 12 Favorite Baby Board Books.
I especially recommend board books because the pages are made of a thicker cardboard, making it easier for babies to turn the pages as they enter the 4-6 month range (with no ripped pages!), and they hold up to baby’s teething.
These books have been favorites in our home for years, and even though my three are well past the newborn stage, each of these books has a special place in all our hearts.
