One of the first families I met in Albuquerque - that we weren't already related to - was Martha's. Her husband saved our little dog's life the day after we moved in, when he stopped his car on his way to work and helped her find her way back home. (Moving is chaos, you guys!!) The next week, Martha and their kids brought by a plate of treats and introduced themselves, old-school-style. It was awesome. Playdates and scooter rides paved the way for friendship - and Martha is the sort of friend a girl is SO lucky to have.
For all those reasons and more, I was beyond thrilled when Martha won the session I gave away in August.
One of the first things she told me was, "I want to do something that’s us. I love photos where everyone is being themselves."
Of course I loved that!
But when it came to actually choosing an activity to document, we were slightly stuck. There were lots of little moments she wanted to remember, but what story should she tell?
Then, it happened. She and her family were throwing around a football, just playing in the backyard one evening, and she saw it - that look of pure joy on her husband's face. She knew in an instant what her session should be.
And she was right. It was perfect.
Here are a few of my favorites from her session:
